Our Adoption Journey
Are you adopting? We want to help! First, I want to share a story about how awesome God is!
Seven years ago we started the adoption process to bring a child home from Bulgaria. We believe firmly in God’s principles of both first fruits and sowing and reaping. We found a family we didn’t know, who was adopting from the same country and sowed a first fruits offering into their adoption. We told no one that we did this.
Our adoption journey lasted several years, and we faced many obstacles. First, we were removed from the Bulgaria program after waiting for 1.5 years because of my husband’s age. Then we were matched with two children from Poland but six weeks before we were supposed to go and get them our agency, the largest US agency for Polish adoptions, was shut down. Poland immediately decided to quit doing international adoptions. We had met our kids and kept in touch weekly through Skype so there was no way we were leaving them there. Through many, many prayers, an amazing agency, a whole lot of patience, and 3 months overseas we finally brought our children home. As far as we know we were the only family that got to do this. God is so good! He was faithful and I believe He honored that we started our adoption by giving. There’s more though…
Our church is starting a ministry to help families fund the cost of adoption. They do not believe money should ever be the reason a child does not have a home. They heard that my husband and I were beginning the adoption process again and asked if they could sow first fruit offering into our adoption. They have no idea that we did this. They have no idea what amount we donated. But God does. The check they gave us was for the EXACT amount that we had given 7 years ago.
God not only blessed us with our children, He also blessed us by giving back all that we had sacrificed. This is the character of the God I serve. He is immeasurably more than I could ask or imagine. It is too hard to even grasp how wide and long and high and deep His love is. Every good and perfect gift comes from Him, and He gives generously!
We are blessed beyond measure and would again like to sow into a family who is adopting. If you, or someone you know, is in the process (international or domestic) then I want to know. Click the link to send me a note with some of the details. We will pray for each and every one of you! On top of that, we are going to choose a family that we would like to donate to.
I can’t wait to hear from you.
