Confident Hope – Ephesians 1:18

“It was Paul’s prayer for the Ephesians, and it is my prayer for you:
I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope He has given to those He called—His holy people who are His rich and glorious inheritance.” — Ephesians 1:18

That phrase—confident hope—has stayed with me. It’s not just a passing feeling or a nice thought to hang onto when life is going well. It’s a deep, anchored assurance that even in the darkest seasons, God’s light still breaks through.

I think about the stories we’ve shared in From These Broken Pieces. Stories like Sarah’s, who thought the trauma of her past disqualified her from ever being whole. Or Jasmine, who carried shame like a second skin until she met Jesus in a recovery room. Their circumstances didn’t magically change overnight. But something shifted when they realized that hope wasn’t something they had to generate—it was something God gave. It was a confident hope rooted in His calling and promises.

That’s the kind of hope Paul prayed for—and the kind I’m praying over you right now.

Maybe you’ve been walking through recovery, or parenting someone who is. Maybe you’ve tried everything and still feel stuck. But if your heart has felt heavy or your faith dim, let this be your reminder: God wants to flood your heart with light.

You are His. Chosen. Loved and part of His glorious inheritance.

Holy Week Monday

On Monday, Jesus rode to the temple courts and was disappointed at what He saw. He became angry, driving out those who were buying and selling and overturning the tables of the money changers. This area was to be a place of prayer.

In fact, it was the only area Gentiles were allowed to come and pray. Jesus knew the hearts of the merchants and saw them as thieves. This was actually the 2nd time Jesus cleansed the temple as He did so at the beginning of his ministry as well.

Adoption Update

Our family spent weeks looking through and praying over, the files of children waiting to be adopted. These children are considered “special needs” due to a physical, emotional, or mental disability, their age, or the number of siblings hoping to stay together.

Last October, we felt the Lord highlighted one particular file, and we sent a “Letter of Intent” to Colombia. This basically told them who we were and asked if we’d be considered for that particular file, even though all of our paperwork wasn’t completed yet.

It has taken some time as there were special circumstances, but as of today, WE HAVE BEEN APPROVED.

We are beyond excited!!!

We aren’t at a point yet where we can share any of the information in the file, but we’re hoping to give you a few details soon. For now, would you pray with us for favor, speed, and the preparation of hearts.

International or Domestic?

Our excitement can’t be contained any longer…WE ARE ADOPTING AGAIN! Wow, it’s hard to believe I just wrote those words. Probably even harder for others to believe. I mean, we already have 9 kids. What are we thinking?! Well for starters we believe that all Christians have the responsibility to care for orphans. This can be done in a variety of ways, but if you are considering adopting then I want to encourage you.

My plan is to share our journey from beginning to end. You will see the good, the bad, the scary, and the wonderful. You will be there for the paperwork and the waiting, but also for the match announcement and the first meeting. If you have questions, I would love to try to answer them (or at least point you in the right direction). I would also love to pray for you if you are on this journey as well. Please comment and let me know. I can’t wait to share more with you soon!
