Higher Ways

One day I was listening to a Christian radio station and they were interviewing this little boy.  I lived in the North at the time and he had just the cutest little Southern accent.  He lived on a farm and was telling a story about a cow.  The cow had a baby and he just loved this little calf.  He would carry it everywhere and take care of it like he was its daddy.  He absolutely loved it.  Sadly, one day the calf died.  This little boy began crying out to God because He didn’t understand why his calf would die.  What he said next forever changed my life.

He said God reached down and comforted him.  God told him he will not always understand His ways.  He doesn’t always get to know why things happen the way they do.  But then God said, “I know exactly how you feel because my son died too.  He died and I understand the pain you are feeling, the loss, the grief, and the anger.  I know exactly what you are going through.  And I’m here for you”.

I’m telling you, that changed my whole life and I pray it changes your too.  We don’t get to know God’s ways.  We don’t get to understand the reason things happen.  But we do get to rest in the knowledge that He loves us.  He knows how we’re feeling, He knows what we’re going through, and He wants to be there to walk through it with us.

Isaiah 55:9 As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.
