Trust & Obey

Today in church, our pastor asked all of the students and teachers to come to the front for a special prayer as we get ready to head back to school. I have one daughter who does not like to be the center of attention, so she looked at me with fear when I started to lead her to the front. In a concerned voice, she said, “Mom, I don’t understand what’s happening.” I tried to explain, but she still didn’t grasp what we were doing. I gently grabbed her hand and whispered in her ear, “It’s ok, just follow me.” She did.

The Lord showed me that this situation was a beautiful picture of how He wants us to respond to His call. Sometimes, He leads us to a place that makes us uncomfortable or afraid, and sometimes, we don’t understand what is happening. He wants us to know, as He gently takes our hand, that it’s going to be okay and to just follow Him.

My daughter obeyed me because she trusted me. She knows how deeply I love her. I pray today that you know how deeply your Father loves you and that His love allows you to trust Him in every situation.
