Will You Be One Of Them?
I was seated next to a young man on my flight today. As soon as I sat down, he saw my Jesus T-shirt and immediately let me know he practiced Paganism and his girlfriend was a Satanist. I smiled at him and asked where he was headed. We spent the next 4 hours or so chatting about his life and his future plans. As our flight was descending, he stared me in the eyes and again told me he worshiped pagan gods and let me know most people judged him for that.
I stared right back at him and said that I didn’t judge him. I continued saying, “But one day when you discover that this leaves you completely empty, Jesus will be waiting with His arms open wide to accept you into His family because He loves you more than you could possibly understand.”
He said, “The church hurt me.”
I answered, “Those were people, not Jesus.”
“The leader of the church abused me.”
“That was a sinful, sick man, not Jesus.”
“When I became confused about my identity because of the abuse, the church responded in hate and judgment.”
“I’m sorry they were such a poor representation of who Jesus is. His love for you is so deep. I believe I sat next to you today so you could hear that and see the truth of who He is.”
He answered, “I actually do. Thank you.”
My new friend wasn’t ready to trust in Jesus, but I have no doubt the Lord planted seeds in his heart today.
Would you do 2 things for me?
1. Would you pray for my new friend “D”? That more believers would come into his life and show him the true love of Christ?
2. Will you be one of those people? Not just for “D” but for the millions of broken, lost, & hurting people out there?
Time is running short.
