As you know, we have spent the last 17 months working toward another adoption, this time siblings from Colombia. A few weeks ago, the U.S. Government sent us a letter stating that they intended to deny our application to adopt based on paperwork unrelated to our family. Thankfully, they gave us an opportunity to appeal that decision. During that process, so many of you were praying for us, and we are forever grateful.

I am so excited to announce that they have changed their minds! We just received our official APPROVAL LETTER!!

We trusted God’s plan and put this adoption in His hands. We submitted completely to His will, even if it was not the answer we were hoping for. Our Father is so good that He planted the desire for these children in our hearts, and He is preparing the way – in His perfect timing.

We now submit everything to Colombia and wait for the official match (they have pre-approved us already, but nothing is definite until they get this paperwork). I will let you all know when we receive it.

Adoption Update

Our family spent weeks looking through and praying over, the files of children waiting to be adopted. These children are considered “special needs” due to a physical, emotional, or mental disability, their age, or the number of siblings hoping to stay together.

Last October, we felt the Lord highlighted one particular file, and we sent a “Letter of Intent” to Colombia. This basically told them who we were and asked if we’d be considered for that particular file, even though all of our paperwork wasn’t completed yet.

It has taken some time as there were special circumstances, but as of today, WE HAVE BEEN APPROVED.

We are beyond excited!!!

We aren’t at a point yet where we can share any of the information in the file, but we’re hoping to give you a few details soon. For now, would you pray with us for favor, speed, and the preparation of hearts.

International or Domestic?

Our excitement can’t be contained any longer…WE ARE ADOPTING AGAIN! Wow, it’s hard to believe I just wrote those words. Probably even harder for others to believe. I mean, we already have 9 kids. What are we thinking?! Well for starters we believe that all Christians have the responsibility to care for orphans. This can be done in a variety of ways, but if you are considering adopting then I want to encourage you.

My plan is to share our journey from beginning to end. You will see the good, the bad, the scary, and the wonderful. You will be there for the paperwork and the waiting, but also for the match announcement and the first meeting. If you have questions, I would love to try to answer them (or at least point you in the right direction). I would also love to pray for you if you are on this journey as well. Brokenness Becomes Beautiful

The first time someone asked me how many kids I had, I wasn’t sure how to answer. God brought each of my precious children to me in a unique way. Most of them as the result of some form of brokenness.

Do you know what I find absolutely amazing though? God took those pieces of brokenness, put them together, and made the most beautiful family I could ever imagine. Sadly, we live in a world full of brokenness and despair. We have an enemy who is out to steal, kill, destroy, and then trick you into thinking it was an unloving god. But your heavenly Father is good.

He wants to bring you life. He wants you to have peace and joy. He wants to take your brokenness and make it beautiful, just like He did for my family.

Adoption Journey

When we brought our Polish children home there was a lot we had to go through to get them healthy. These poor kids suffered through tons of shots, doctor’s appointments, nights in the hospital, IVs, urine samples, stool samples, massive dental work, and serious digestion issues.

There were many days they would just cry and the look in their eyes was saying to me: “why is this happening mommy? I don’t understand. I thought life was going to get better. I thought you loved us. I don’t understand the pain you are putting me through.” It broke my heart. I couldn’t speak their language, but I wanted to tell them how much I loved them. I wanted them to know what they were going through was for their good. I wanted to say that my plans were to prosper them, not harm them, to give them hope and a future. But I couldn’t.

So, I just wrapped my arms tightly around their little bodies and cried with them.You might be in a place right now in your life that doesn’t make sense. It might be painful or scary. God wants you to know He loves you. His heart is breaking for you. He might not be able to explain to you what is happening because you don’t speak His language, but He has a plan for your life. A plan to prosper you, not harm you, to give you hope and a future.

God is good and everything He does is for our good. He doesn’t promise there will be no storms, but He does promise to be with you with His arms wrapped tight around your little body.
