Many new believers get handed a Bible and are told to read it…but the Bible is a big book! Where do you even start? It can be easy to get overwhelmed by the size and scope of the Bible. That said, reading the Bible isn’t about immediately understanding all the stories; it’s about uncovering the heart of God. You are not behind or in a race against your neighbor to learn the most about Jesus. This is a process!

We are so passionate about helping you create lasting Bible reading habits! You can visit our Read Your Bible for more information, but I’ll give you a few of our favorite resources below:

  • You can join our FREE Coming To Life course that will walk you through the ENTIRE Bible, start to finish, and help you understand God’s big story.
  • Start a YouVersion Bible app reading plan. One of our recent plans is “And God Said” which is all about times in Scripture where God spoke directly to people.
  • Take our “Start Reading the Bible” quiz to find out which book in the Bible is the best fit for you right now. Before you read, pray: “God, help me understand.” You won’t get it all at first. That’s okay. Keep going!

We made this simple guide for the men and women we serve through our jail ministry, and we want to share it with you too. Here’s how it works:

  1. Find the question that fits where you are right now: “Who is Jesus?” “Think God could never forgive you?” “Feel lonely or forgotten?” “Struggling with anger?”
  2. Each question points you to ONE chapter of the Bible that speaks right to it.
  3. Read that one chapter. That’s it. One chapter a day is enough.

This printable includes common questions people ask about God, and chapters in the Bible to read to find the answer.

We chose single chapters on purpose. A whole book can feel like too much when you’re new and just learning to read the Bible. One chapter is something you can finish today and come back to tomorrow.

God is not done with you!
