There are seasons when life just feels heavy, and it’s hard to explain why. You’re doing what you know to do—showing up, trying to make better choices, working on the areas that need attention—but even with all that effort, something still feels off.

It can get frustrating when you feel like you’re putting in the work and not seeing real change. You fix one thing, and something else pops up. You deal with one issue, and it feels like another one is right behind it.

Sometimes the problem isn’t what’s right in front of you.

Think about it this way—if you see rats, your first instinct is to get rid of them. You set traps, clean things up, do whatever you can to make them go away. But if there’s still garbage nearby, the rats aren’t going anywhere for long. They may disappear for a little while, but they’ll be back.

That’s because the rats aren’t the real issue. The garbage is.

A lot of what we struggle with works the same way. The anger, the anxiety, the habits we wish we could break, the tension in our relationships—those are the things we notice first because they’re visible. They’re what interrupt our day and demand our attention. But many times, those things are being fed by something deeper that we haven’t really dealt with yet.

We spend so much time trying to manage what’s on the surface that we don’t always stop long enough to ask what’s underneath it.

That’s why things can feel like a cycle.

“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” — Proverbs 4:23

What’s going on in your heart has a way of working its way into every part of your life—your reactions, your thoughts, your decisions, even the patterns you keep finding yourself in.

The good news is that God isn’t put off by any of it. He isn’t waiting for you to figure it out or clean it up before you come to Him.

“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works…” — Ephesians 2:10

Even in a season that feels messy or unclear, your purpose hasn’t changed.

“But you are a chosen people… God’s special possession…” — 1 Peter 2:9

You haven’t been overlooked or set aside.

And no matter how far you feel from where you want to be, this is still true:

“For God so loved the world…” — John 3:16

His love doesn’t shift based on how well you’re doing or how stuck you feel.

When life feels heavy, and you start to realize there may be more going on beneath the surface, you don’t have to ignore that or push it aside. You can bring it to God honestly.

Psalm 51 is a reminder that He doesn’t turn away a heart that’s willing to be real with Him. He restores what’s been broken and begins healing from the inside out.

When You’re Ready for Something Different

It may not be about trying harder or fixing one more outward behavior. It may be about letting God gently show you what’s underneath and trusting Him to meet you there.

That’s where real freedom begins—not just managing what shows up on the surface, but allowing God to do a deeper work that actually lasts.

You Are Not Too Far Gone. Jesus is Ready.

Maybe you’ve heard about Jesus your whole life. Or maybe this is the first time you’re wondering what it means to truly be saved. Either way, you’re here for a reason.

God loves you. Yes, you. Right where you are. No matter what you’ve done, no matter how broken your story feels — He hasn’t given up on you. He’s been pursuing your heart from the very beginning.

The Bible says:

“If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”
— Romans 10:9

This isn’t about religion. It’s not about having all the answers or fixing yourself first. It’s about relationship — knowing Jesus personally, and trusting Him to do what only He can: rescue, forgive, and restore.

What Does Salvation Mean?

Salvation means being rescued from the power of sin and death. It means being forgiven, made new, and brought into a right relationship with God. It’s not something you can earn — it’s a gift. A gift Jesus made possible when He died on the cross and rose again, conquering death and offering eternal life to all who believe.

A Simple Prayer to Begin

You don’t need fancy words. Just a surrendered heart. If you’re ready to take that step, you can pray something like this:

Jesus, I believe You are the Son of God. I believe You died for my sins and rose again. I know I can’t fix my life on my own. I’m asking You to forgive me, change me, and lead me. I give You my life today. Thank You for saving me. Amen.

If you just prayed that — welcome to the family. Heaven is celebrating with you (Luke 15:7), and we are too.

What Now?

Tell Someone — Don’t keep it quiet. Let someone know you’ve made this decision. We’d love to hear from you here.

Get a Bible — Start reading God’s Word. If you don’t have a Bible, you can read on the YouVersion Bible app. We have multiple Bible reading plans available for FREE here.

Talk to God — Prayer is simply talking to your Father. You don’t have to know all the right words.

Find Community — Connect with a Bible-believing church or local ministry. You weren’t meant to walk this road alone.

You’re not alone in your journey. Read powerful real-life stories of redemption from those who have walked from darkness into light in our You Are Loved Series of videos and testimonies.

Valentine’s Day isn’t always sweet.

For some women, it brings back hard memories—of relationships lost, of mistakes made, of love that hurt instead of healed. Maybe you’re in a season where you’re rebuilding your life. Maybe you’re starting over, learning how to love again—yourself, your kids, or the woman you’re becoming.

That’s why these printable Valentines were created—for you, for your sisters in recovery, and for any woman who needs to be reminded: You are not who you used to be. You belong—and you are loved forever.

These printables remind thatYou Are Loved, and they’re full of truth that speaks louder than shame. Whether you’re making these as a group activity in a recovery home or printing them to give away at church, each design is meant to help you say what we all need to hear:

You are still chosen (John 15:16)

You are loved with an everlasting love (Jeremiah 31:3)

You are redeemed and made new (2 Corinthians 5:17)

You belong to God (Isaiah 43:1)

We’ve included full-color versions for creative hearts and grayscale options for easy printing anywhere. You’ll also find candy-heart themed cards, Scripture truth notes, and a few simple DIYs to help you make this season about real love—the kind that never fails.

Print them. Share them. Speak life with them.

Because love like this is meant to be given away.

Valentine’s Day can be hard.

We scroll past smiling couples, flowers, and chocolate-covered everything while wondering if we’re worth that kind of love. And if you’ve walked through addiction, rejection, or deep heartbreak… it can feel like you’ve been disqualified from being loved at all.

But here’s the truth: You are loved. Right now. As you are.

Not because you’ve earned it. Not because you’ve gotten it all together. But because God already decided you’re worth loving—and He proved it on a cross.

That’s why we created the God’s Love Candy Box—not just as something cute for Valentine’s Day, but as a powerful reminder of the kind of love that never fades.

“You’re Mine” – Isaiah 43:1
“I have called you by name; you are mine.”
You’re not forgotten. You’re not too far gone. You belong.

“XO” – John 15:13
“Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”
That’s what Jesus did for you.

“Call Me” – Jeremiah 33:3
“Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.”
God wants a relationship with you—not just rules, but real connection.

“True Love” – Romans 5:8
“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Love isn’t just a feeling. It’s a sacrifice—and Jesus made it for you.

“Hugs for You” – Matthew 11:28
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
Real love welcomes your exhaustion and gives you peace.

“You + Me” – Romans 8:39
“Neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Nothing—absolutely nothing—can come between you and God’s love.

“Be Mine” – Jeremiah 31:3
“I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.”
He chose you first—and He’s never stopped choosing you.

“Cutie” – Psalm 139:14
“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”
You were handcrafted with intention. Beautiful. Valuable. Seen.

“Love You” – Isaiah 54:10
“Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken.”
This love won’t change with circumstances. It holds steady when everything else falls apart.

This Valentine’s Day, let the world keep its paper cards and store-bought candy.
Let your heart feast on a deeper truth:

The Bible is filled with broken people—liars, cowards, murderers, and failures. And yet, God never gave up on a single one. From Noah to Rahab, David to the shepherds in the field, God had a plan from the beginning: not to save us because we’re good—but because He is good.

In this powerful message, you’ll hear how Jesus came for the overlooked, the messy, and the ones who thought they were too far gone. And He came for you, too.

So maybe you’re feeling worn out this season. Maybe shame whispers that you’re too broken, too far gone, or too much of a mess. But the truth is this: before you took your first breath, God chose you (Ephesians 1:4–5). He wrapped Himself in humble cloth, not robes of royalty, to show you that no one is left out of His love—including you.

Let this be the Christmas season where you kick off your mat, leave your mess behind, and go tell the world: Jesus came, and He came for me.

You are loved.

You are chosen.

You are not too broken for God.

Have you ever left a church service thinking, That message wasn’t fancy—but something changed in me?

That’s not human talent. That’s the Holy Spirit.

Paul reminds us in 1 Corinthians 2:4-5, “My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God’s power.”

We’ve seen this truth unfold again and again:

April was lost in addiction with a six-month-old baby in her arms when her cousin overdosed in front of her. She performed CPR for 17 minutes—crying out to God the entire time. When her cousin came back to life, she knew: God had just brought them both back from the edge. That moment sparked her own transformation, and today she leads others out of darkness.

Joshua Seal was serving a life sentence. He had already tried to end his own life. But God sent a prison officer who saw his worth and spoke truth over him. In that hopeless place, Joshua encountered the Holy Spirit, surrendered, and was radically changed. He now lives with purpose, ministering from behind bars to others who feel forgotten.

Tina grew up in trauma and rejection. Her heart was hardened, her faith nearly gone. But when she chose to forgive, the Holy Spirit rushed in and did what no therapist or sermon ever could—He healed her completely and gave her a calling.

None of these stories were crafted just in a pulpit—they were authored by the Spirit of God.

Friend, don’t expect perfection from the pastor. You already have access to perfect power.

“My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God’s power.” 1 Corinthians 2:4-5

What does it really mean to be a new creation in Christ?

2 Corinthians 5:17 says it plainly: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” This verse isn’t poetic symbolism. It’s a promise—a declaration of transformation that has been proven time and again in the lives of people who’ve met Jesus in their darkest places.

Lacy’s story is one of those. Trapped in addiction and facing the devastating possibility of losing her unborn daughter, she cried out to God. Doctors said her baby wouldn’t survive, but Lacy clung to prayer. Days later, her body was healed, her daughter was saved, and her faith was ignited. Today, she leads others toward the same hope she found.

Carlos was facing 11 years in prison. Guilt and shame crushed him—until a court-appointed attorney looked him in the eyes and told him he had a call on his life. Carlos surrendered everything to God in a jail cell. Sixty days later, he walked out—not just a free man, but a new creation. Today, he serves full-time in ministry, preaching the gospel that saved him.

Tracy, once lost in 42 years of addiction, now holds her daughter and granddaughter in her arms again. Her family was restored because she encountered a Savior who never gave up on her.

Friend, the old can be gone. The new can come. Jesus is still in the business of rewriting stories.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”

What happens when fear keeps us from stepping into what God has promised?

In this message, Katie shares three powerful stories—the chaotic “sloth walk” with her kids, Israel standing at the edge of the Promised Land, and her own journey of fear and calling—to reveal a common struggle we all face: forgetting who God is and, in turn, forgetting who we are.

The Israelites believed they were “grasshoppers,” small and insignificant, even though the people on the other side of the promise saw them as mighty warriors. That same lie still keeps people stuck today—stuck in fear, anxiety, comparison, and unbelief.

At the heart of this message is a life-changing truth from Exodus 3:14: God’s name is “I AM.” When we misuse “I am” with words God never spoke over us, we take His name in vain without even realizing it. Our words shape our identity, and our identity shapes the steps we’re willing to take.

This message is an invitation to replace fear with faith, lies with truth, and hesitation with obedience. It’s a reminder that when you truly know who God is, you can finally understand who you are in Him. You are not insignificant, unqualified, or too far gone. You are chosen, forgiven, called, and loved.

As a new year begins, God is inviting you on a walk. It may not be easy, but He promises to walk with you every step of the way. Don’t spend another season wandering when the promise is right in front of you. Know His name, take the step, and walk in the identity He has given you.

For more than two decades, Jason’s life was trapped in addiction, broken relationships, and repeated jail time. He tried to change, but nothing lasted. It wasn’t until he found himself behind prison walls that everything shifted—because that’s where Jesus saved his life.

Jason was raised in a Christian home with a faithful mom who never stopped praying. After the tragic death of his father, he began to drift. By 18, drinking led to drug use, and eventually to dealing. Over the years, the spiral deepened—cocaine, pills, meth, homelessness, and countless arrests.

But in a prison cell, something broke. A chaplain handed Jason a Bible, and in the middle of the chaos, he found peace. He started attending chapel services, reading the Word, and feeling a tug on his heart. One morning, after a restless night, Jason dropped to his knees and surrendered his life to Jesus.

That moment changed everything.

Today, Jason is walking in freedom. He serves at Men of Valor, mentoring other men coming out of incarceration. His story is one of radical redemption—a testimony of how God can take what the enemy meant for destruction and turn it into purpose.

If you’ve ever felt too far gone, let Jason’s life remind you: Jesus still saves. He still redeems.

Want more stories like Jason’s? Read You Are Loved or explore From These Broken Pieces to see what God can do with a surrendered life.

The beginning of a new year often comes with a lot of noise. New goals. New habits. New plans. New promises to “do better this time.”

But for many people—especially those walking through recovery or healing—January doesn’t feel exciting. It feels heavy. We carry the weight of what didn’t change last year, what we’re still wrestling with, and the quiet fear that starting over might just lead to more disappointment.

The good news is this: starting over with God is not about willpower or perfection. It’s about grace. Scripture reminds us again and again that renewal doesn’t come from trying harder—it comes from surrendering our hearts to the One who makes all things new.

Here are five Bible verses to anchor your heart as this new year begins.

1. A New Creation, Not a Better Version

2 Corinthians 5:17
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”

The world tells us the new year is about self-improvement. God tells us it’s about transformation. This verse doesn’t promise a slightly upgraded life—it promises something entirely new. In recovery, this truth matters deeply. You are not defined by your past, your relapse, or your worst season. In Christ, you are being made new and you are loved.

2. Mercy That Meets You Every Morning

Lamentations 3:22–23
“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.”

God doesn’t wait until January 1st to offer mercy. He offers it daily. If last year was marked by struggle, setbacks, or survival mode, this verse is a reminder that you didn’t miss your chance. God’s compassion is fresh today—right where you are.

3. A Clean Heart Comes from God, Not Effort

Psalm 51:10
“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.”

Recovery often reveals how deeply we need God to do heart work we cannot do ourselves. This prayer isn’t about managing behavior—it’s about inviting God to restore us from the inside out. As a new year begins, this verse gives language to a surrendered heart asking God to rebuild what feels broken.

4. Letting Go Without Being Defined by the Past

Isaiah 43:18–19
“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing!”

Letting go doesn’t mean pretending the past didn’t happen. It means trusting God is not finished writing your story. Recovery teaches us that healing includes moving forward without dragging shame along with us. God is already at work—sometimes quietly—doing something new.

5. Surrendered Plans, Not Controlled Outcomes

Proverbs 16:3
“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans.”

The new year often comes with planners, schedules, and resolutions. Structure can be helpful, but only when it’s rooted in surrender. This verse reminds us that peace comes not from controlling outcomes, but from placing our plans in God’s hands and letting Him guide each step.

A Different Way to Start the New Year

Starting over with God doesn’t require a perfect plan or a strong resolve. It begins with humility, honesty, and trust. Whether you’re early in recovery, walking through healing, or simply weary from trying to hold everything together, this new year doesn’t ask you to become someone else.

If you’re looking for Scripture to guide your heart this January, let these verses remind you that new beginnings are not earned—they are given.
