Know the Name

What happens when fear keeps us from stepping into what God has promised?

In this message, Katie shares three powerful stories—the chaotic “sloth walk” with her kids, Israel standing at the edge of the Promised Land, and her own journey of fear and calling—to reveal a common struggle we all face: forgetting who God is and, in turn, forgetting who we are.

The Israelites believed they were “grasshoppers,” small and insignificant, even though the people on the other side of the promise saw them as mighty warriors. That same lie still keeps people stuck today—stuck in fear, anxiety, comparison, and unbelief.

At the heart of this message is a life-changing truth from Exodus 3:14: God’s name is “I AM.” When we misuse “I am” with words God never spoke over us, we take His name in vain without even realizing it. Our words shape our identity, and our identity shapes the steps we’re willing to take.

This message is an invitation to replace fear with faith, lies with truth, and hesitation with obedience. It’s a reminder that when you truly know who God is, you can finally understand who you are in Him. You are not insignificant, unqualified, or too far gone. You are chosen, forgiven, called, and loved.

As a new year begins, God is inviting you on a walk. It may not be easy, but He promises to walk with you every step of the way. Don’t spend another season wandering when the promise is right in front of you. Know His name, take the step, and walk in the identity He has given you.
