Overcoming Alcohol Abuse for GOOD!

Addiction doesn’t knock on the door with warning signs. It barges in—sometimes subtly, other times violently—until one day you realize it’s taken more from you than you ever intended to give. That was the reality for many of us who found ourselves lost in alcohol abuse. But here’s the truth that changed everything: You are not beyond redemption.

I used to believe I’d be a drunk for the rest of my life. I told myself that every day. “This is just who I am.” Those lies kept me chained because when you repeat a narrative long enough, it becomes your identity. But the turning point came when I stopped letting the addiction name me—and started letting God remind me who I really was.

I am a child of God.
I am chosen.
I am loved.
I am not here by accident.

Overcoming alcohol abuse wasn’t a single moment of inspiration—it was a series of daily choices, hard truths, and messy grace. It meant surrendering control, getting vulnerable, and letting people in. It meant admitting that I couldn’t fix myself and that I didn’t have to—because Jesus already made a way.

And for those wondering where God was in their darkest moments: He was there. Even when it felt like He was silent. Looking back, I see the moments that could have ended my life, the days I barely made it through. And now I know—it was His hand that kept me. His mercy that spared me. His love that refused to let go.

If you’ve ever felt like you’ve gone too far, or it’s been too long, or you’ve messed up too much to change—hear this:

It’s not too late.
You’re not too far.
And you are still His.

You don’t have to carry shame anymore. You don’t have to live in that identity. Whether it’s been one year or forty, Jesus is still in the business of healing, restoring, and rewriting stories. My life is proof of that.

So if you’re struggling with alcohol abuse, don’t give up. Get help. Speak the truth. And most of all, believe that real freedom is possible.

You don’t have to just “manage” your addiction. You can overcome it—for GOOD.
