What Could Be Blocking Our Prayers?

I was sitting with a group of ladies in jail the other day, and the conversation turned to prayer. A few of them admitted they didn’t think God was listening to them anymore. They figured He must be mad about the choices they’d made. I told them that’s just not true. God isn’t up there with His arms crossed, frowning at us. He’s the Father who celebrates when His kids come home. But I also explained that sometimes it does feel like He’s far away because there are things blocking our prayers.

The Bible talks about this — certain attitudes, sins, or even broken relationships can get in the way of our communication with God. It’s not that He’s ignoring us. It’s these things that can make it harder for us to hear Him.

If you’ve been praying and wondering why it feels like nothing’s happening, take a few minutes to look through this guide. Ask God to show you if something’s standing in the way. The good news? Those blockers don’t have to stay there. God is always ready to remove them and restore that closeness when we come to Him.
