You Don’t Have to Fake It Anymore: Celebrate Recovery Step 2
Have you ever felt like you’re just pretending everything’s fine—showing up with a smile, saying the right things, doing your best to hold it all together on the outside, while inside you’re falling apart?
I’ve been there. And I want to tell you something that might feel scary at first but is actually so freeing: You don’t have to fake it anymore.
Celebrate Recovery: Lesson 2
In Celebrate Recovery Lesson 2, we talk about what it means to stop pretending and admit the truth—we are powerless to fix ourselves. That’s not a defeat; it’s actually the beginning of real healing. Because when we stop relying on our own strength, we can start leaning fully into the strength of Jesus.
I walk through the story of the fig tree in Mark 11, where Jesus curses a tree that appeared healthy—full of leaves—but had no fruit. That story hits deep. It reminds us that God isn’t looking for performance; He’s looking for fruit. And we don’t bear fruit by trying harder. We bear fruit by staying rooted in Him. (Galatians 5:22-23)
This step—admitting powerlessness—is a turning point in recovery. It’s where transformation begins. We’re reminded in Colossians 1:9-12 that when we grow in wisdom and understanding, fruit follows. It’s not about looking okay. It’s about becoming whole.
Friend, you’re not alone. And you don’t have to carry this weight by yourself. Healing is possible—not by your power, but by His.
If surrender feels hard right now, take a moment and read Don’t Give Up. It might be exactly what your heart needs today.
