Jehovah Tsidkenu – The Lord Our Righteousness
No matter how hard we try, we all fall short. We battle sin, make mistakes, and sometimes wonder if we’ll ever be “good enough” for God. But the truth is, righteousness isn’t something we achieve—it’s something we receive. God revealed Himself as Jehovah Tsidkenu—The Lord Our Righteousness, reminding us that our standing before Him isn’t based on our efforts but on His grace. Through Jesus Christ, we are made righteous, not because of what we’ve done, but because of what He has done for us.

Jehovah Tsidkenu in the Bible
The name Jehovah Tsidkenu appears in Jeremiah 23:6, where God promises a coming King who will rule with righteousness: “…And this is the name by which He will be called: ‘The Lord is our righteousness.’” This prophecy pointed to Jesus Christ, the One who would bring true righteousness to His people.
Paul echoes this in 2 Corinthians 5:21, saying, “For our sake He made Him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.”
We could never earn righteousness on our own, but through Jesus, we are clothed in His perfect righteousness and fully accepted by God.
What This Means for Us Today
Many of us struggle with guilt, shame, or the pressure to “be better.” But Jehovah Tsidkenu is our righteousness—not our past, not our failures, and not our own strength. Jesus took our sin so that we could stand blameless before God.
This means you don’t have to live in fear of not measuring up. You are already loved, already forgiven, and already made new in Christ.
A Prayer for Righteousness
Jehovah Tsidkenu, You are my righteousness. I know I could never earn Your love, yet You have freely given it to me. Thank You for covering me in Christ’s righteousness and making me new. Help me to walk in confidence, knowing that I am fully accepted by You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

You don’t have to strive for righteousness—it is a gift from God. Rest in His grace, knowing that in Christ, you are made new.
